Oh, 2025.....you can go ahead and fuck right off.
If you all thought 2024 was terrible, 2025 said hold my beer. While there were worse years (2020 and 2021 come to mind to me personally), 2025 was the year where almost all the things you feared coming from 2024 came true. Donald Trump basically did almost whatever he wanted with no one having a spine to stop him (putting his name and taking control of the Kennedy Center, pardoning everyone from January 6, trying to charge all his enemies with bullshit crimes, completely hiding the Epstein Files, making ICE the new version of the Nazi SS, trying to start wars in multiple countries through words and tariffs, prices completely going up on most stuff, destroying parts of the White House, pardoning all of his con artist friends, and lots more that I dont want to talk about). More famous people (and many of them good people) passing away. Heck, the only good things about this year for me were the DC Defenders winning the XFL Title, the Toronto Blue Jays playoff run (which ended horribly by choking away the World Series), and the Carolina Panthers doing better than anticipated. Also movies and video games were good this year, but of course the business behind that stuff is complete shit with the AI threat looming. 2025 has been the first year where I legit said if there was a robot uprising or alien attack, I would side with the robots or aliens.
But that's not what we are here for. We are here to see what films are nominated for the 2025 GINO Award and another bit of good news, it is not the many choices that you had for 2024. So here they are.
Remember When We Saw This Trailer And Worried About All The Shit That We Might Be Subjected To? Well, It All Came True. Jack Black Continues Down The Rabbit Hole Of Being In Terrible Video Game Movies. Everyone In This Movie Completely Sucked To The Point Of Annoyance And At The End Of The Day, I Had ZERO Desire To Even Try Playing Minecraft. And Of Course It Made A Ton Of Money So Expect A Painful Sequel.
Anaconda (2025 reboot)
Jack Black Is Back Again To Be In A Completely Stupid Anaconda Reboot That Came Out Just In Time For Christmas. The Anaconda Series Continues To Be Attached To The World Of Monster Crap, Although This Might Be The Second Best Film (Which Is Not Saying Much). If You Hate Jack Black Or Paul Rudd, Just Stay Away From This Movie Because Their Type Of Comedy Is All Over This Movie.

If You Ever Needed A Sleeping Film Because It Is So Boring, You Can Go Watch Ash. Directed By Some Guy Who Calls Himself Flying Lotus, The Film Is So Devoid Of Suspense That You Are Just Waiting For The End To Come. Aaron Paul Is Wasted In This Film, But Thankfully He Had Better Work In 2025 That This Film Can Just Be A Foot Note To His 2025.
Marvel Fatigue Completely Hit Us All And No Bigger Indication Of That Came In 2025 Than Captain America: Winter Soldier. Reshoots, Requirements To Watch Shows That Were On Disney Plus, This So Much Feeling Like A Movie That Should Have The Hulk Yet Doesn't Have The Hulk, And Actor Changing All Plague What Is Definitely The Worst Of The Captain America Films. Anthony Mackie Tries, But He Cannot Save This Mess Of A Film That Ultimately Became A Bore To Sit Through.
Outlaws Vs Clone Cops Is A TV Show In The Future That Everyone Knows It Is A Show....Except Many Of The Outlaws. This Film Tries To Be A Comedy, But Almost Fails In Being Funny And When You Are Not Funny, It's Excruciatingly Terrible.
The 2023 GINO Award Winner Sadly Made A Bunch Of Money So A Sequel Was Of Course Made. And Everything You Hated About The First Film Was Made Even Worse With The Sequel, Including The Fact That This Also Made Plenty Of Money To Warrant A Third Film.
Paul WS Anderson Returns To Monster Crap With All Of His Worst Tendencies Like Having His Wife Be An Awesome Badass That No One Can Defeat, Including Dave Batista Who Is Hired To Be Her Bodyguard. It Tries To Be A Science Fiction Western, But Fails To Bring Any Enjoyment That Either Of Those Genres Tend To Bring And Instead Just Goes More Towards Anderson's Boring Wants In What He Thinks Is Good Cinema.
In 2022, We Had A Awesomely Bad Film About A Killer AI Doll That Wants To Be A Little Girl's Best Friend And Will Not Take No For An Answer. It Was A Surprising Hit For Blumhouse So Blumhouse Decides That We Need A Sequel That Is More Terminator 2 To The First Film's Terminator 1, And Heck Let's Release It In The Summer Instead Of The Winter. It Didn't Work.
30 Years After The Original Film Came Out And Loads Of Development Hell To Come With It, An Attempt To Bring Red Sonja Back To The Mainstream Fails Once Again. This Sword And Sorcery Film Decides That We Don't Need Anything Linking Red Sonja To Conan The Barbarian Despite That Is Exactly How It Was In The Comics. That Only Works If The Film Is Good And This.....Was Not.
We Tried Once Again To Bring The Smurfs Back To The Viewing Audience And It Seems Nothing Was Learned From The Last Time Trying To Make A Smurfs Movie Because There Is Live Action Parts And We Try Once Again To Lean Into "The Word Smurf Replacing A Curse Word" Meme Because Of Course We Would. Also, Rihanna And James Corden Are Our Lead Voices And They Both Suck.
Oh, Disney....Your Aching Need To Remake Every Animated Film In Your Library Continues To Be A Horrible Business Model And No Film Was As Big Of A Bomb For You Than Your Attempt To Remake Snow White. Having A Debate About Whether To Have Dwarves In Your Film Leads To A CGI Monstrosity, Having Gal Gadot Be The Evil Queen Backfires In Many Ways (Worst Of Which Is When She Sings), And Having Rachel Ziegler Be Your Lead And Going The Ghostbusters 2016 Route Of Blaming Bigotry For Any Backlash. And Then When The Film Bombs, Blaming Rachel Ziegler. 2025 Is The Year Where We Can All Collectively Say "Fuck Disney".
Max Originals Once Again Give Us Something So Awful That It Has To Be Nominated For The GINO And This Time, It Is The Parenting. Let's Put 5 Good Character Actors, A Haunted House, And Lots Of Toilet And Nudity Humor And Hopefully That Will Work. It Did Not And Instead Just Made Me Extremely Mad When I Was Done With The Film Despite Wanting To Like It.
Disney Continues Their Shit Year With An Attempt To Resurrect The Tron Franchise. There Were Plenty Of Good Ideas Actually In This One Like A Soundtrack From Nine Inch Nails, The Digital World Invading The Real World, And Good Effects Is Sadly Brought Down By The Decision To Have Jared Leto Be The Lead, Having Greta Lee And Evan Peters Give Their Worst Performances, And Having A Terrible Story. Well, Back To The Bin For You Tron As You Bombed Again.
Until Dawn Was A Successful Horror Video Game That Made Player Choices Matter To Who Lives And Who Dies So Of Course, Hollywood Would Come Calling Wanting A Video Game Made Out Of It And Playstation Studios Was Going To Do It Right By Doing It Themselves. Then They Proceeded Completely Change How The Game Works And Instead Make It A Horror Version Of Groundhog's Day Combined With Being Stuck In A Cabin. It Was Rightfully Hated.
Hey, Lets Take The War Of The Worlds Public Domain ID, Use The Same Technology That Worked For Searching And Missing, Get Plenty Of Actors In Their COVID Lockdown Places Act Like They Are Communicating, Have Some Godawful CGI Effects, And To Make Sure We Get A Great Streaming Deal, Kiss Amazon's Ass With Product Placement. What Do You Mean This Ended Up With Something Considered One Of The Worst Movies Ever Made?
Wolf Man
Blumhouse And Universal Had A Huge Hit With The Reboot Of The Invisible Man In 2020 So 5 Years Later, Let's Try To Reboot The Wolfman Franchise Again With The Same Director. Sadly Lightning Did Not Hit Twice And This Film Joins The Other Attempts At Resurrecting The Wolfman Franchises In The Trash. Just Let's Stop Trying To Remake The Wolfman Because It Just Never Works.
